The Department of Justice is sending a message to Philadelphia: show proof of cooperation with federal immigration officials, or deal with a possible lack of federal funds. The Department of Justice sent letters on Friday to Philly, as well as Chicago, that city's surrounding county, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The letter says the city must provide documentation by the end of June that demonstrates compliance. Mayor Jim Kenney, who the letter was specifically addressed to, has not responded.
