The Bell Tavern is gone

The historic Bell Tavern building in Silver Spring Township is gone.  Triple Crown Corporation, which owns the Carlisle Pike property, began tearing it down last year, but the project was stopped by historians who wanted the building preserved.  Triple Crown agreed to sell the land to a preservation group in June but says the organization failed to meet the conditions so the tavern was recently demolished.  The tavern was a meeting place for anti-federalists working on the Bill of Rights.
