Charges in a texting-related death

The driver in the 2015 crash in Fairview Township that killed 17-year-old Emily Groft has been charged with homicide by vehicle.  According to a criminal complaint, Brooke Livering had been texting moments before she was involved in the fatal accident.

Livering was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse when she came around a curve quickly, hit a tree, striking the right side of the car where Groft was the passenger.

The coroner determined Groft was wearing a seat belt but died from blunt force trauma.

A juvenile that police interviewed during this investigation said that Livering may have been in the area to check on someone she was romantically involved with.

It's alleged it was that same person Livering had been going back and forth with via text, just before the crash.
