East Penn parents fight for West Creek

Dozens against, but none in support.

That was the theme among those who got up to speak at the East Pennsboro School District community meeting.

"Through our experience it's been exceptional. We have loved our time in the school district especially with West Creek," one resident said.

Focused on two options, one that will close West Creek Hills Elementary and build a new school and one that will keep it open, the community has spoken.

CBS-21 reports district officials are strongly considering another, more expensive option. That will include closing West Creek Hills and building a new elementary school on the East Pennsboro campus, something the superintendent says may benefit students.

"Right now I think the best option is operating as efficiently as we can and it would look to me as though bringing that school to one campus is one of the options.

Another option being the need to operate with a K-2 and 3-5 configuration, so if anything, it's giving us more questions to look at and some more options to consider," Superintendent Jay Burkhart said.
