Discover Lancaster is seeking tourism growth through a rise in tax paid by visitors.
CBS-21 reports the organization asked Lancaster County Commissioners Wednesday to increase the lodging excise tax from 1.1% to 3%.
They believe it would help generate over three million dollars more to a vital industry in the county.
The tax would be paid by guests at county lodging, not county residents or businesses.
24 other counties in PA, including York, have already increased the tax to support tourism marketing.
