New trial denied in murder from the early 70s

A Carlisle woman released from prison after 42 years is not getting a new trial.  Letitia Smallwood was convicted of murder and arson in 1972.  In 2015, new evidence was introduced and she was granted a new trial.  She was released from prison, but prosecutors appealed and the Superior Court ruled yesterday that she should not be retried.  Smallwood's attorney says she may appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court and will likely remain out on bail.
