After an hour long presentation and many questions from residents, the Hellam Township Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to grant Viridis Medicine a conditional use permit to build a growing and processing facility in the township.
CBS-21 reports the board of supervisors spoke and approved a conditional use permit to Viridis Medicine to build a 50-thousand square foot medical marijuana growing and processing plant in Hellam Township if the state picks them.
"We were always worried about a vote. We understand the concerns of our neighbors and we believe in the project, so we're going to move ahead with it and hope for the best," Viridis Founder, Jeff Geisel said.
Dozens attended the meeting. Those voicing their opposition to the facility and medical marijuana, stated their main concern was having what they call a "pot farm" in their town.
