>>Seven Community Organizations To Receive State Funding To Help With Juneteenth Celebrations
(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf's Office announced yesterday that 89-thousand-dollars in Journey Through Freedom grants would be split among seven groups across the state for Juneteenth celebrations. The Pennsylvania Tourism Office is providing the grants. Groups were awarded money based on their historical significance, educational outreach, and volunteer resources. Juneteenth is held every year in remembrance of the June 19th, 1865 announcement that slavery had been abolished in the United States.
