The world's largest locomotive, known as Big Boy, is continuing its nationwide tour, making stops in Pennsylvania this week. The tour, which is part of a historic coast-to-coast journey celebrating America's 250th anniversary, has recently been marred by a mass casualty event in Berks County due to extreme heat.

During a stop in Muhlenberg Township, more than 100 attendees experienced heat-related illnesses, with 35 requiring hospitalization. The incident occurred as spectators gathered to see Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014, with temperatures reaching 106 degrees. According to CBS 21, one person suffered cardiac arrest but was successfully resuscitated.

The locomotive, which is 133 feet long and weighs 1.2 million pounds, is scheduled to continue its tour with stops in King of Prussia, Lebanon, and Altoona. It will also make appearances in Enola, Cresson, and Leetsdale before departing Pennsylvania.

Union Pacific encourages attendees to stay hydrated and maintain a safe distance from the tracks. The tour includes both public display events and shorter whistle-stop opportunities. For more information on the schedule and to track the train's journey, visit Union Pacific's website.
