(Atlanta, GA) -- The CDC is investigating a salmonella outbreak linked to small turtles, some with shells shorter than four inches. There are cases in nearly a dozen states so far, including New York and Pennsylvania. CDC officials have confirmed 15 infections, mostly in young children. They say half of those with confirmed cases bought the turtles online, despite a federal law that bans the sale of tiny turtles as pets.
