WORLD WAR II ERA PLANES TO FLYOVER BRIGHTBILL PARK SATURDAY
NEWS RADIO WHP 580 will host its 17th Annual Rally for the Troops with speakers, memorials and a very special flyover
Saturday, May 4, 2019:NEWSRADIO WHP 580 will host its 17th Annual Rally for the troops at Heroes Grove inside Brightbill Park, Lower Paxton Township. At high noon a presentation of colors will be provided by Pine Grove Area High School JROTC Color Guard and begin a full line-up of speakers.Special guest speaker Congressman Scott Perry, Representative Andrew Lewis and WHP 580’s RJ Harris will speak of military commitment and thank those who have served and are currently on active duty.The annual Rally for the Troops began in May of 2012 to recognize our military men and women. This year will feature a dedication marker of the B-26 Crash by the Lower Paxton Historical Society.
About the B-26 Crash:
April 22, 1951, a B-26 traveling from Ohio to Delaware crashed into Blue Mountain, north of Linglestown, in Lower Paxton, PA. Three crew members were killed in the accident.
A special marker commemorating the crash has been installed adjacent to Heroes Grove and will be dedicated after the rally.
The Rally will conclude with Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael J. Novosel, M.O.H. Capitol Chapter 542 will present a field cross ceremony.
Following the field cross there will be a WWII Era Aircraft Flyover. Airmen and planes include:
