Harrisburg Man Charged After Pursuit Leads to Seizure of Drugs and Illegal Firearm
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Sept. 1, 2026) — A Harrisburg man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a police pursuit ended in a crash and led to the seizure of illegal narcotics and an altered firearm, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police Troop H Incident Reaction Team attempted to stop a black Jeep SUV on the evening of Aug. 31 at approximately 7:09 p.m. near the intersection of Radnor and Jefferson streets in Harrisburg. Authorities said the vehicle was being stopped for several traffic violations.
According to police, the driver refused to pull over and fled, prompting a pursuit through the city. During the chase, the operator was allegedly observed throwing a bag from the vehicle.
The pursuit came to an end when the driver failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into the porch of a residence near the intersection of Penwood Road and Alricks Street. Police said the driver then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended a short time later.
The suspect was identified as Romell Devine McMillan, of Harrisburg.
Following the arrest, troopers conducted a search of the vehicle and reportedly discovered a substantial quantity of controlled substances along with packaging materials commonly associated with drug distribution. Investigators later recovered the discarded bag, which police said contained additional narcotics, drug-packaging materials, and an illegally altered firearm.
McMillan was subsequently charged through Magisterial District Judge 12-2-04 with numerous offenses, including possession of a firearm prohibited, carrying a firearm without a license, possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, and reckless endangerment. Additional charges include drug possession, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, accidents involving attended property, and multiple traffic violations.
No injuries were reported in connection with the pursuit or crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
