Tick Disease On The Rise In Northeast But Not Reported In PA

(Harrisburg, PA) - Officials with the CDC say it's hard to track a particular kind of tick-borne disease in Pennsylvania because the state says it's not a reportable condition. The Centers for Disease Control says cases of babesiosis are on the rise in many northeastern states and that transmission of the parasite has been documented in Pennsylvania. The disease, which can cause mild to severe symptoms and can be fatal, is primarily transmitted by blacklegged or deer ticks.
