>>Federal Court Dismisses Child Slavery Suit Against Hershey, Nestle, Cargill
(Washington, DC) -- A federal judge in Washington, DC has dismissed a child slavery lawsuit against international food and candy makers. Judge Dabney Friedrich ruled on Tuesday that Hershey, Nestle, Cargill, and other companies were not liable for child slavery on cocoa [[ ko-ko ]] farms in Ivory Coast. The judge said the eight plaintiffs in the proposed class action didn't have standing to sue because they didn't show what she called a "traceable connection" between the defendant companies and the plantations where the plaintiffs worked.
