>>Wolf Administration Proposes Changes To Regulations For Nursing Homes

(Harrisburg, PA)Ā --Ā The Wolf Administration is proposing new regulations for nursing homes. The changes would increase the minimum hours spent between staff and residents to about four-hours. State officials say studies have shown that this is the minimum level of care needed by nursing home residents to prevent problems such as bed sores, infections, malnutrition, dehydration and injuries from falls. However, Leading Age Pennsylvania, which represents over 380 providers of services for seniors, is displeased and says nursing home providers will bear much of the cost. Over one-thousand caregivers plan on holding strikes next Tuesday.
