>>Harrisburg Man Faces Attempted Homicide Charges For Derry Street Shooting

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A 49-year-old man from Harrisburg is facing attempted homicide charges after a shooting over the weekend. Fred Zlater is accused of shooting the other person during an argument Saturday on the 2,500 block of Derry Street. Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting is asked to contact police.

>>Decades In Prison For Man Arrested On Drug, Weapons Charges

(Harrisburg, PA) -- It will be up to 40 years in prison for a 40-year-old man convicted on drug and weapons charges. Maurice Lackey was arrested in June of 2017 by Harrisburg police, who said they found over 160 bags of crack cocaine and two firearms in his vehicle during a traffic stop. He had been on parole from a previous drug and weapons conviction that happened in 2003.

>>Positive COVID-19 Case Reported For Susquehanna Township Football Team

(Susquehanna Twp., PA) -- Officials with Susquehanna Township School District say there has been a positive COVID-19 test with their football team. The district says it’s keeping with state health department and CDC protocols and will suspend all football activities until October 10th. Anyone who may have come in close contact with the person is being asked to quarantine before returning to class.

>>PA Health Department Adds One-Thousand-29 New COVID-19 Cases

(Harrisburg, PA) -- PA Health Department officials are adding 1029 new COVID-19 cases to the Commonwealth’s total. That brings the commonwealth to 155,232 confirmed or probable cases since the start of the pandemic. There were 22 new deaths related to COVID-19 complications reported statewide in Monday’s announcement.

(Steelton, PA) -- The iconic steel mill in Steelton will soon be under new ownership. ArcelorMittal is selling the former Bethlehem Steel Plant to Cleveland-Cliffs. It’s likely the billion-dollar business deal could be finalized by the end of the year.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A months-delayed Second Amendment rally is set to happen today on the State Capitol steps. The Rally to Protect Your Right to Keep and Bear Arms event was postponed in June amid unrest over the police involved death of George Floyd. The event dates back to 2006.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Vice President Mike Pence is set to hold a debate watch party in Lancaster County. The watch party scheduled for tonight at Meadow Spring Farm in Lititz. Doors open at 5 pm., and tickets are available online. Pence has visited Pennsylvania five times this month, and Democratic nominee Joe Biden has made four visits in the same amount of time. 

>>Charges Filed In Reading Police-Involved Shooting

(Reading, PA) -- A transgender woman is facing charges for pointing a gun at police. Lakim Jahaad Miller-Nock prefers to go by Roxanne Moore, and is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, and other offenses. She was shot by police during the encounter near South Eighth and Franklin streets. The shooting was called justified.

>>Reading City Council Settles With County Over Unbilled Water Meter

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading City Council is settling with the county over nearly three decades of unbilled water service. The council voted yesterday to agree to $375,000 payments to the city and the water authority. The deal stems from the discovery of two water meters in the basement of the Berks County Services Center in 2019. One of the two meters hadn't been measured and billed since the building was built in 1992.

(Reading, PA) -- Reading CollegeTowne is set to offer engineering degrees. Alvernia University announced yesterday that it would be offering electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering degrees at its new center city campus. The engineering programs have experiential learning opportunities at local companies such as FirstEnergy, East Penn Manufacturing, and Brentwood Industries.

>>Berks To Fund New Round Of Grants

(Reading, PA) -- Berks County is set to provide a new group of grants to organizations in need because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Commissioners announced yesterday that the Berks County CARES Grant Program will award up to $19-million in grants to four different public areas, including public health services, municipalities and authorities, nonprofits, and educational institutions and services. The grants are only available to reimburse costs for needed expenses incurred between March 1st and September 30th.

>>Former Shop-Vac Employees Protest Sudden Layoffs

(Williamsport, PA) -- Former Shop-Vac Corporations employees are angry and protesting the abrupt shutdown of their former employer. Demonstrators say they were given no notice of the closure and the company had no communication with them that they would not receive any severance or continuance of benefits. Dozens gathered outside of the plant in Williamsport yesterday. Shop-Vac laid off about four-hundred people earlier this month with an abrupt shutdown after an alleged sale of the company fell through.

>>Thief Steals Funds Raised For Cancer Patient In Columbia County

(Berwick, PA) -- Berwick police are searching for the thief who stole a donation jar for a cancer patient's treatment from a Dawg Deli in Berwick. A friend of the patient says they wanted to cry when they heard the news someone swiped one of the jars they placed to raise money for Tim Updegrove's medical expenses. He was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer two months ago and the medical bills are piling up as each treatment costs $26,000 and chemotherapy costs up to $18,000. Tim and his wife Destiny Updegrove are selling nearly everything they have to hopefully get Tim back to good health and they plan on celebrating their 20th anniversary this Thursday, Destiny hopes it's not their last.

>>National Guard Helping Northumberland County Nursing Home

(Shamokin, PA) -- The Pennsylvania National Guard is helping a nursing home in Northumberland County as more than one-hundred residents and staff at the facility tested positive for COVID-19. No word has been said on how the outbreak at the Mountain View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center started. There are currently 85 active cases out of the 130 total cases they counted there. Northumberland County is one of seven being watched by the state as they recently have all seen at least 5-percent of their COVID-19 tests have come back positive.
