Building Safety Measures Order Signed By Health Secretary

Building Safety Measures Order Signed By Health Secretary

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The governor’s office says Doctor Rachel Levine signed an order providing direction for maintaining and cleaning buildings for businesses authorized to maintain in-person operation. The measure is for the owners of buildings of at least 50,000-square feet that are being used for commercial, industrial, or other enterprises. Levine says cleaning, disinfecting, and other maintenance and security services performed by building service employees are critical to protecting the public health.

The order outlines these protocols:

  • Routinely clean and disinfect high-touch areas accessible to customers, tenants or others in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
  • Maintain existing cleaning protocols in the facility for all other areas of the building.
  • Ensure that the facility has a sufficient number of employees to carry out the protocols.
  • Ensure that the facility has a sufficient number of security employees to control access, maintain order and enforce social distancing of at least 6 feet, provided the security employees are otherwise responsible for such enforcement.
