A convicted murderer in Alabama who was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole, was discovered missing on Saturday, officials said.

Daniel Miner, 43, was reported missing at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night after a count of inmates at the state-run facility came up short, the Alabama Department of Corrections said in a statement.

It's unclear how Miner was able to escape.

According to an inmate report from the state's Corrections Department, Miner was wearing a white prison uniform when he escaped. He's described as a white man who is 5'6" tall and weighs 192 pounds. He has several "white power" tattoos on his neck, arms, torso and back, the department said.

Miner is serving a life sentence after he was convicted of murder in 1994. He was also charged and sentenced for promoting prison contraband in Limestone County in 2003, inmate records show.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is working with state authorities to apprehend Miner. Anyone who sees Miner or may have information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Alabama Department of Corrections at 1-800-831-8825 or call 911.
