Montana Woman Uses Hairdryer To Stop Speeders In Her Neighborhood

A grandmother from Montana got sick and tired of cars speeding down her tree-lined street, so she decided to do something about it. Patti Baumgartner grabbed her hairdryer and set up a chair on the side of the road, pretending she was holding a radar gun as cars zipped past

"We were talking about maybe something would slow the cars down. So, we decided to put me in a chair, and I guess use the hairdryer as a speed thing," Baumgartner told KPAX-TV.

Her son snapped a photo and shared it on Twitter where it quickly went viral. The tweet got the attention of Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Noah Pesola who applauded Baumgartner and decided to name her an "Honorary Montana Trooper."

"And like she says she's got grandkids in the area, so she's doing something for her grandkids benefit. The best thing I could think of was to give her a trooper hat and a badge to make her look a little more official," Trooper Pesola said.

Baumgartner admitted she wasn't sure if she managed to get any drivers to slow down, but she plans to go back out there with her hairdryer to raise awareness about the dangers of speeding.

"They forget to slow down, and there are a lot of people that are complaining about that they can't walk or ride their bikes. I wouldn't even attempt riding a bike around," she said.
