Armed Man Shoots Worshipper During Church Robbery

Authorities in South Carolina are trying to locate a suspect who shot one person while robbing a church. The suspect barged into the Centro Cristiano de Columbia Church in the middle of Sunday morning services armed with a silver handgun. He fired one shot into the air and demanded money.

He shot one person and continued to fire shots into the air until his gun stopped working. The suspect then fled dark blue or black Toyota Prius. There were about 20 people attending mass at the time.

The victim, identified as 23-year-old Esvin Perez, was rushed to the hospital where he is undergoing emergency surgery. His condition is unknown.

Police described the suspect as a tall, slender, black male wearing a black striped shirt with black pants. He had a beanie on his head and used a bandanna to cover his face.

It is unclear if the robber managed to get any money before he fled the scene.
