Adolf Hitler's "Super Mercedes" is being dubbed "the most historically significant automobile" to hit auction floors. The car some experts believe could bring as much as $15,000,000 will be featured in Arizona at the Scottsdale Auction on January 17th. Vintage motorcar specialists Worldwide Auctioneers is already abuzz with collectors looking to get their hands on the Offener Tourenwagen. Worldwide, there are claims the armored, sleek-black, 1939 convertible was ordered by, built for and used by Hitler. The Mercedes-Benz 770 known as the "Grosser" was seized in 1945 by Allied forces and later used in U.S. military motor pools, before bouncing among private collectors.
The auction revealed that the anonymous seller is donating 10% of the proceeds to the international Jewish human rights organization, the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
