Dance Your Way Through the Holidays!

A Free Women’s Holiday Health Series

Let this be the year you learn to manage holiday stress healthfully.

Many women feel stressed out about the demands of the holiday season. Join us as we bring together the spirit of celebration and learning to the topic of holiday stress as we practice the principles of exercise, friendly support and mindfulness as healthy stress management techniques.

Come play with the movement and beauty of a bellydance workout, followed by a mindful meditation on self-care during the holiday season. Then we will gather for refreshments and a discussion or activity on healthy tips for the holiday season.

Colorful coin belts will be provided. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. You are welcome to bring a mat.No previous dance experience necessary.

Week 1

“Healthy Holiday Habits –Are You Ready?”

Prepare for healthy habits through the holidays. After a low-impact bellydance workout and stress-reducing meditation, Registered Dietitian Hilary McMahon will offer meal planning tips that will reduce the calorie overload of traditional holiday fare. We will sample healthy recipe versions of holiday favorites.

Week 2

“Holiday Cure for Negativity”

Pamper yourself. Learn how a positive thought or simple pleasure can reverse holiday stress. Feel beautiful and fun with a low-impact bellydance workout and stress-reducing meditation. Then gift yourself with a natural sugar scrub that you make. 

Week 3

“Holiday Body Conscious-NESS”

Practice mindful attention to what your body wants to tell you. Use a low-impact bellydance workout and stress-reducing meditation to reflect on your body’s response to holiday stress. Then we’ll discuss preventative healthcare for women.

 Week 4

“Holiday Balance”

Promote strength with a low-impact bellydance workout and stress-reducing meditation. We’ll gather to discuss the benefits of a strength-building workout to prevent accidents and injury over the holidays and measure our flexibility and balance.
