Burning Leads To 60-Acre Fire

A large fire in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, burned over 60 acres of corn silage on Thursday (November 6) after a trash fire grew out of control. The blaze started near Fetterhoff Chapel Road in Guilford Township and was visible from miles away. According to the Franklin Fire Company, the fire began when someone was burning trash in the area. Crews, including those from the New Franklin Fire Company, worked together to contain the fire by 2 p.m.

Local21 News reported that a thick cloud of smoke was seen billowing from the fire, which scorched more than 60 acres. Crews used manure spreaders and disc rakes to help extinguish the flames. The fire company noted that the windy conditions contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, and authorities are urging residents to exercise caution when burning trash, especially during windy conditions. Local21 News also covered the incident, highlighting the collaborative efforts of multiple fire departments in containing the blaze.
