The American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania is calling on residents to volunteer and support their communities in 2025. With volunteers making up 90% of its workforce, the organization emphasizes their crucial role in disaster response, blood donation programs, and military family support. In 2024, over 3,400 volunteers assisted in more than 1,500 local disasters and supported over 5,000 blood drives. Volunteer opportunities include responding to home fires, assisting military families, and delivering blood to hospitals. Jorge Martinez, CEO of the American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania, said, "Our volunteers make up 90% of our workforce and are the beating heart and soul of the Red Cross."
