The boil water advisory that was issued for customers in Pennsylvania American Water’s Mechanicsburg system has been lifted as of today (August 13, 2024). The advisory was initially put in place on August 9, 2024, due to a water main break that caused a loss of positive water pressure. The issue has now been resolved, according to a statement from Pennsylvania American Water.
The advisory affected approximately 42,000 customers in the Mechanicsburg system, including those in Camp Hill, Lemoyne, New Cumberland, Shiremanstown, West Fairview, and Wormleysburg boroughs. It also impacted East Pennsboro, Hampden, Lower Allen, Silver Spring townships, and parts of Upper Allen Township in Cumberland County, as well as portions of Fairview and Newberry townships in York County.
The decision to lift the advisory came after acceptable test results were obtained from samples collected on August 11 and 12, 2024. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has authorized the lifting of the advisory. Pennsylvania American Water has thanked its customers for their patience and cooperation during this event.
