PASSHE Chancellor Calls for Additional Funding

(Harrisburg, PA) - The chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education went before lawmakers on Wednesday. Daniel Greenstein discussed a proposed tuition freeze, coupled with a six percent funding increase. PASSHE is seeking 38-million-dollars above its current funding level to keep tuition at its current rate, which is just over 77 hundred per semester. Greenstein also expressed optimism but did not elaborate on Governor Josh Shapiro's proposal to revamp higher education in the state. Shapiro's plan calls for 975-million-dollars for PASSHE and community colleges, all of which would be placed under one governing body.
