Discussion to Come on Mandating Carbon Monoxide Detectors at Child Care Centers
(Allentown, PA) -- Debate is expected to begin soon in the Pennsylvania State Legislature that would require carbon monoxide detectors in child care centers. The measure was introduced after a leak at an Allentown daycare last year that sent nearly 30 children and four adults to the hospital. UGI officials later confirmed that the leak came from faulty furnace, which had blocked ventilation from coming into the building. The bill gives businesses a year and a half to comply. After that, they could lose their childcare licenses.
