(Harrisburg, PA) -- A group of activists is asking for the state to remove some candidates' names from the November voting ballots. They demonstrated at the state capitol Wednesday calling on the Secretary of the Commonwealth to remove republican governor candidate Doug Mastriano and Congressman Scott Perry from the November ballot. They say the duo's alleged involvement in the insurrection should disqualify them from elected office. The January 6th Committee will be holding their public hearings beginning Thursday night. They'll be televised at 8:00 p.m.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Official tallies from the statewide recount for the republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania have been released. The formal results Wednesday show celebrity heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz narrowly defeating former hedge fund CEO David McCormick. State election officials say Oz won by 951 votes out of more than one-point-three million cast in the May 17th primary election. The official count results have come several days after McCormick conceded the race.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A bill has passed the state senate that would let police in many areas confiscate illegally operated all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes. Proponents say it would help stop swarms bikers and ATV drivers from scaring motorists and ignoring traffic laws. The bill would make the vehicles subject to the state's asset forfeiture law and give police a variety of options to keep them off the streets, including destruction. The measure now heads to the state House for consideration.

(State College, PA) -- Police in State College are asking the public for help in finding three men who are responsible for a string of thefts in the area. The three have been seen taking wallets from people's shopping carts and then using their contents to purchase items. One suspect reportedly used a credit card to make seven-thousand dollars in purchases at a Giant store. Another used the stolen wallet to buy expensive items from a Sam's Club. The men are suspected of similar crimes throughout the state.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Officials with the Dauphin County Library System say one of their branches will close for five days soon. Harrisburg's McCormick Riverfront Library will be closed from June 20th through the 25th so that workers can remove the elevator for the next phase of planned renovations the upstairs area. Patrons won't be able to use the elevator to the library's main floor until July 9th. Library officials say curbside pick-up will return for members who can't use the stairs.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A bill that would remove some children's access to state-funded healthcare has passed through the PA House. House Bill 398 would require all recipients of state-funded health care assistance to cooperate with the Department of Human Services in securing medical support through private insurance from a noncustodial parent, when available. As of May, there were nearly 139,000 children enrolled in the CHIP program through the DHS.

(Bethlehem, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has received a mitigation plan from a Bethlehem casino to help find children who've been left alone by their gaming parents. Wind Creek Bethlehem says it will spend more than four-million-dollars to improve security throughout the property. The PGCB says the number of kids being left on their own at casinos has risen in recent years. It says the average age of unaccompanied minors has been about 12 years old.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania state and local lawmakers have gathered at the State Capitol to voice their opposition to PennDOT's tolling plan. The bi-partisan group on Wednesday said that residents of the counties and municipalities affected did not have enough opportunity to be heard on the matter before PennDOT was given permission to pursue it. Several municipalities are challenging the process as both unconstitutional and illegal.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Harrisburg Community Correction Center inmates will continue to clean up litter on area roads. The program recently affirmed by PennDot and the state department of corrections says having inmates do the work saves taxpayer money that would have been spent cleaning up roadways. Pennsylvania DOC says approximately $14 million is saved annually in statewide litter clean-up efforts.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A woman has been arrested for indecent exposure and public drunkenness after police found her nude in a convenience store. Officers responded early in the morning Tuesday to the Harrisburg Pike Sheetz in Middlesex Township to find Amanda Baker there. A news release from the department says Baker is 37 and from Carlisle. Court records show she was arrested Tuesday while being out on bail for felony retail charges that were filed in April.

(Reading, PA) - A Reading business owner is welcoming a family of Ukrainian refugees to the city. Cesar Gonzales, owner of Stirling Guest Hotel, says he'll give them not only a place to stay, but also a place to work if they'd like. The Stirling is partnering with Regeneration Church in Bucks County to coordinate families seeking refuge.

(North Annville Township) -- A nearly 150-year-old stone masonry arch bridge at the border of North Londonderry and North Annville townships is being replaced by PennDOT. A research group says the bridge is one of fewer than a dozen pre-1900 stone arch bridges left in the Harrisburg region. PennDOT says inspection reports show a 30-year decline in the condition of the bridge and that it lacks modern safety features. The bridge spans the Quittaphilla Creek in Lebanon County.

(Lancaster, PA) -- A 32-year-old man has been arrested for related sex trafficking charges in Lancaster and in central Pennsylvania. The Lancaster District Attorney's Office says the main charges for Louis Fountain concern his alleged trafficking of an 18-year-old woman. The DA contends he promoted her as a prostitute and lived off of the proceeds of her work. The arrest last week is the first by the county's Human Trafficking Task Force.

(Reading, PA) -- Firefighters in Reading are getting closer to be able to use a new firehouse. The new facility, which officials say is about a quarter of the way through with construction. It will be located across the street from the current firehouse that dates back to the 1800s. The new state-of-the-art station is being built at Ninth and Marion Streets and is set to be finished in December.
