>>Governor Plans to Give Vaccinated State Workers 5 Days Off

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf's administration is offering five days of paid leave to state workers who get fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The plan revealed Monday would have an end-of-year deadline. The five days of "verification leave" can be used between December 20th and March 31st. The administration said employees who don't use the days by then will be paid for them. Also, employees who have already verified their fully vaccinated status will automatically receive the days. 

State Treasurer Stacy Garrity is against the move, saying it could cost the state more than $105-million.

>>Darby Caregiver Arrested for Abusing $90K in Disabled Clients' Benefits

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The state attorney general's office has filed charges against a former caregiver for stealing the personal IDs of several intellectually disabled clients. AG Josh Shapiro says Nelson Fornah from Darby fraudulently applied for and received nearly 90-thousand-dollars in Pandemic Unemployment Assistance funding. He was caught when his clients had to provide additional ID verification on video. Prosecutors say the victims appeared distressed and confused as they were allegedly being coached by Fornah during those appearances.

(Mechanicsburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania has the second highest rate of deer-car accidents in the nation. The Pennsylvania Insurance Department says the highest chances for an encounter with a deer are between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. They encourage drivers to pay attention to deer crossing signs, use high beams, and slow down -- especially at dawn and dusk when deer are most active. The agency also says it's important to know what their insurance covers in terms of property damage and injury.

>>Pennsylvania One of Several States Recalling Dole Salad Bags

(Washington, DC) -- The Food and Drug Administration says Dole Brands is recalling some of its salad bags sold in Pennsylvania after they tested positive for listeria. Among the salads being recalled are the 24-ounce garden salad, 24-ounce Marketside Classic Salad, 12-ounce Kroger brand garden salad and the 12-ounce Salad Classics Garden Salad. The recall impacts nine other states, as well. Listeria can cause potentially deadly infections in people with weakened immune systems, with symptoms that include fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, and diarrhea.

(Reading, PA) -- The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a small plane from Reading, Berks County that went missing after crashing into the ocean late Sunday night. Coast Guard officials say the Piper 28 aircraft went down around 10:30 p.m. Sunday off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The FAA says the plane left from Reading Regional Airport and was headed to Chatham Municipal Airport on Cape Cod. The pilot, whose name has not been released, was the only person on board

>>Lancaster Man Faces 100 Years in Prison for Shooting that Injured Four People

(Lancaster, PA) -- A Lancaster County man has been convicted of attempted voluntary manslaughter and other charges related to a shooting that injured four people last year. Prosecutors said 21-year-old Mark Ivie Jr. opened fire at a group of men after a fight at his Ephrata home in July of last year. Investigators said Ivie fired 14 rounds at the group of men. Four of them were hit, and two bullets went into nearby homes. Sentencing is scheduled for December. Ivie could face more than 100 years in prison.

(Reading, PA) -- A spike in the market price of a precious metal in the exhaust system is driving thefts of catalytic converters on cars and trucks. Police in Berks and surrounding counties are asking people to be on the lookout for suspicious people around vehicles or the sound of a saw blade cutting metal. Investigators say thieves are using battery-powered saws to remove the converters for their value as scrap metal. Police add that metal recyclers can pay anywhere from $25 for a converter to over a thousand dollars for systems from larger trucks.

>>Air Travel Declines at PHL

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Flights coming in-and-out of Philadelphia International Airport are on the decline. That's according to a report by the Philadelphia Business Journal that said flights have decreased by more than 21%. The report also noted how the airport dropped way more flights than that of the nationwide average. Overall, PHL experienced the largest decline in total flights that were scheduled and completed for airports with more than 10,000 flights lined up.

>>Officer Released from Hospital After Shooting

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Doctors have released the Philadelphia Police officer from treatment that was shot during an attack one-week ago today. Officer Julian Jones was responding to a call when he was shot in his lower body. The suspect also hit Jones in the head with a hammer. That suspect later died after the officer returned fire and detectives are still trying to figure out how the officer was shot. Another officer was with him at the time of the incident, and she was not hurt.
