>>Harrisburg Teen Charged With Shooting Another Teen In Backyard

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Harrisburg Police have charged 15-year-old Kaewon Layton with murder in the shooting death of another teen earlier this year. Layton is also charged with three firearms offenses because he was not old enough to carry a gun when the shooting occurred in April. He's accused of shooting to death 16-year-old Chay'nce King-Henderson in the victim's backyard on Berryhill Street April first. Layton is in custody in the Dauphin County Prison.

>>State Police Find Boy Walking Alone On Highway

(Lykens, PA) -- State police say they're investigating the discovery of a three-year-old walking along the highway in Dauphin County. The boy was found uninjured on Route 225 in Halifax Wednesday afternoon. Police say they're investigating it as a possible case of child endangerment. 

>>Cause Of Barn Fire In York County Under Investigation

(Lower Chanceford, PA) -- Fire investigators in York County are trying to find out what started a fire in a barn in Lower Chanceford Township yesterday afternoon. Nobody was hurt in the fire on East Posey Road, which drew firefighters from as far away as Quarryville. Crews had to rotate in and out of the building as they fought the fire because of the high temperatures.

>>Midstate Trucking Company Expands To New Headquarters In Highspire

(Highspire. PA) -- A trucking firm that ships freight between Amazon warehouses plans to expand in Highspire with help from the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation. The agency closed on $115,000 in financing through the Enterprise Zone Revolving Loan Fund. Tower Transportation will use the funds to buy land in Highspire. Tower has six employees and plans to hire four more over the next three years.   

>>Census Data Shows Reading Fourth Largest Pennsylvania City

(Washington, DC) -- U.S. Census Bureau data shows Reading is now the state's fourth-largest city, passing Erie. The population in the past decade rose almost eight-percent and stands at 95-thousand-112. Berks County is the ninth-largest county with a four-point-two percent population increase.

>>Reading Woman Sentenced To 13-To-29 Years For 2017 Shooting

(Reading, PA) -- A Reading woman will spend between 13 and 29-years in prison for shooting a man in August 2017. Coralys Lopez was sentenced for receiving stolen property, possessing a firearm illegally, and for probation violations. Lopez admitted she was looking for cocaine and was at the shooting, but denies she was the one on video shooting a man.

>>Governor Wolf Touts COVID-19 Vaccines In Lancaster

(Lancaster, PA) -- Governor Wolf is touting the success and availability of COVID-19 vaccines. He stopped in Lancaster yesterday to continue to praise the shots and says the state will not put a mask mandate back in place. Wolf said the strategy of his administration is to get people vaccinated. He added businesses should mandate that all employees get vaccinated.

>>RAWA Says Sinkhole Possible Source Of Water Main Break

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading Area Water Authority says a sinkhole may be what caused a water main to break. The break happened yesterday morning on Berkley Road in the Riverdale neighborhood. Service was restored later in the day.

>>30th Berks Jazz Fest Starts Today

(Reading, PA) -- Hundreds of volunteers have been hard at work preparing for the 30th Berks Jazz Fest, which begins today. The event was canceled last year due to COVID-19. General manager John Ernesto says they will have 900 seats with a full production with lighting, video screens and the stage in the DoubleTree Hotel ballroom. 

>>Governor Reaffirms Stance Against Mandates

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf is reaffirming his stance against issuing any COVID-19 vaccine or mask mandates in schools. Wolf says the decision rests with school districts, and he doesn't think there is any need for the state to step into this. The governor then encouraged all eligible residents to get vaccinated and those who can't to wear masks. Wolf added that a statewide mandate is not going to change behaviors if districts have already decided they want to do everything to keep kids safe.

>>Transitions Healthcare Accused Of Failing To Properly Pay Essential Workers

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The U.S. Department of Labor says Transitions Healthcare LLC failed to pay essential workers for their overtime. The department found that the Maryland-based healthcare management company failed to provide about 256 workers, including many from Pennsylvania, with overtime pay amounting to more than $73,000. Officials say the employer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by failing to include earned bonuses in the calculation of overtime pay, including sign-on bonuses, retention bonuses and bonuses for working extra shifts. Transitions will have to pay the workers at five of their facilities back, including two here in Pennsylvania.

>>State Department Of Health Wants Nursing Home Staff Fully Vaccinated

(Mechanisburg, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Health is looking to get at least 80-percent of nursing home staff fully vaccinated from COVID-19 by October. Officials say currently, only about 12.5% of facilities have a vaccination rate of 80% or greater. They added that this is embarrassing, and quite frankly, very frightening to residents and their loved ones. Nursing home facilities have until October 1st to fully vaccinate at least 80% of their staff or they will be required to conduct frequent COVID testing. Officials say facilities that don't comply with the testing requirements will be met with appropriate regulatory action.

>>Eagles Fall In Preseason Opener

(Philadelphia, PA) -- The Philadelphia Eagles have some work to do after falling in their preseason opener to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Philly led 10-to-nothing after the first quarter thanks to a long touchdown from Joe Flacco to wideout Quez Watkins. But from there, Philadelphia only added two Jake Elliott field goals to finish the game in a 24-to-16 defeat. Many of the starters saw very limited action including Jalen Hurts who went three-for-seven with 54 yards passing. Philadelphia will head back to the drawing board before hosting the New England Patriots next Thursday.
