The source of the spirits said to lurk in an infamous haunted house located on a Scottish island may have been found as archaeologists have discovered that the home was built atop an ancient graveyard.
The notorious Windhouse on Scotland's Shetland Islands has long been considered one of the country's most haunted locations.
The building, which is now largely ruins, was built in the 18th century and is purportedly home to several different spirits that have been seen by numerous witnesses.
As often is the case with haunted locations, urban legend and local lore suggested that there was a burial site beneath the Windhouse which caused the hauntings to take place.
However in this instance, it would appear that the rumors are true as researchers unearthed a pair of skeletons from the 13th or 14th century buried next to the building.
