Panel Approves Non-Compete Legislation For Doctors, Healthcare Workers

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Legislation that limits the use of non-compete agreements for hiring healthcare workers has been approved by a state House panel. The Health Committee voted in favor of amended House Bill 1633, which limits the longstanding practice of employer-required non-competes or restrictive covenants. That policy often prevents departing physicians from taking a job with another health care company in the same region for a set period of time. Any non-compete agreement entered after the bill would be enacted would be considered void and unenforceable by an employer.
